There are places where time seems to pause – where light, landscape and culture converge to create something quietly profound. In Chile’s Atacama Desert, Tierra Atacama has long been one such place. Now, following an extensive year-long transformation, the lodge reopens – renewed, reimagined and more deeply connected to its extraordinary setting than ever before.

Set within a lush oasis on the Altiplano, Tierra Atacama is framed by shifting dunes, the striking silhouette of Licancabur Volcano and the vast Andes beyond. From the moment of arrival, the design invites the outside in – floor-to-ceiling windows, natural textures and open spaces drawing the desert’s elemental beauty into every corner of the lodge.

The recent refurbishment has been guided by a clear philosophy: to elevate the guest experience while preserving the lodge’s soul. Original architectural elements remain, including the ancient adobe walls of a 150-year-old cattle corral that once stood on the site. These are now seamlessly integrated with contemporary design, honoring both heritage and place.

With the number of suites thoughtfully reduced, the experience is now more spacious and intimate. A collection of new exclusive suites introduces private plunge pools, along with a dedicated vehicle and guide – offering guests the freedom to explore the desert on their own terms, at their own pace.
